The Best Ice Cream Scoopers That We Love to Use

Imagine yourself on a hot summer day, and a strong ice cream craving begins to build. You head to your freezer and pull out a carton of rainbow sorbet. You then try to scoop out a heap of your favorite ice cream, but instead the spoon decides to bend and refuses to help you satisfy your craving. We’ve all been there, right? We get it; it can be irritating!

Instead of using a regular spoon, why not get an ice cream scooper? It will make it so much easier for you to get a nice scoop of your favorite ice cream. It is much more comfortable to use, and the bowl of the scooper will help you achieve the perfect scoop every time. With many ice cream scoopers available, we took it upon ourselves to find the best ice cream scoopers that’ll make the best scoops with minimal effort.

Ahh, the perfect scoop…

Our Favorite: Zeroll Ice Cream Scoop

We don’t even have to think twice about this one. Our favorite ice cream scooper is, hands down, the Zeroll 1020 Original. This scooper has been the preferred choice in ice cream shops and homes for nearly a century! Made out of lightweight aluminum, this scooper easily digs into the most frozen ice cream thanks to its heat-conducting fluid that is in the handle. This fluid uses the heat from your hand to warm up the bowl of the scooper to easily scoop and release the ice cream. And if your hands are cold, you can run the scooper under some warm water for a few seconds to get the same result.

The handle of this ice cream scooper was designed for both left and right-handed people. There are no moving parts, which is much better for American-style ice cream. Thanks to the one-piece design, this scoop can last you a long time as long as you care for it correctly. It is not dishwasher safe, but it’s also not a hassle to wash by hand so we don’t consider that aspect a ‘downside’. At about $25, many may consider this a bit expensive, but we think it’s totally worth it. No other ice cream scooper has given us such perfect balls of ice cream as the Zeroll 1020 Original Ice Cream Scoop.

This is our favorite! We use the 2.5 ounce for perfect scoops.

OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop

Our second choice for an ice cream scoop is the OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop. It is great at digging in through the ice cream thanks to its tapered shape, has a comfortable cushy handle for comfort, and dishwasher safe. The flat edges of the bowl make it easy to scrape every last bit of ice cream that is in the hard-to-reach areas of the ice cream container. It is overall a great scooper for a great price ($15.99), but we don’t like how heavy it is in our hands. Additionally, the ice cream tends to stick to the bowl of the scooper, so you may need to shake and jiggle the scooper just to get your frozen treat into a bowl or cone.

There’s so many option out there. This is what we first used before we met Zeroll and fell in ice cream scooper love. Highly recommend as a budget friendly buy.

Sur La Table Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop

Though we don’t prefer a scooper with several parts, the Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop by Sur La Table is pretty great. If you don’t know, Sur La Table is known for its high-quality kitchen appliances and tools, so they know what they’re doing. This scoop is very easy to use: simply scoop the ice cream and press the lever to easily release your ball of ice cream. We love that it is dishwasher safe and that it’s pretty much mess-free. Additionally, it can double up as a scooper for cookie dough, cupcake batter, muffin batter and even meatballs! It’s a bit pricey and goes for $39, and even though it’s great as far as lever scoopers go, we recommend you get the Zeroll for a better price, easy scooping and the perfect balls of ice cream.

Good Cook Smart Ice Cream Scoop

The design on the Good Cook Smart Ice Cream Scoop is very interesting. The bowl of the scooper is basically cut in half to easily release the ball of ice cream. It is made from heady-duty cast aluminum that has a nonstick finish, so the ice cream won’t stick to the surface. It digs into ice cream pretty nicely, but it may be confusing to use because you need to squeeze the handle while scooping which may make it hard to scoop super frozen ice cream. To release the ball of ice cream, you release the handle and the bowl splits down the middle to release the ice cream. Apart from that, this scooper is a great option and only costs $16.99.

Who’s the best ice cream scooper? The one that’s having the most fun. ;-)
